It is surrounded by the neighborhoods of Ümraniye in the north, Sancaktepe in the northeast, Maltepe in the east, Üsküdar in the west, and Kadköy in the south. It is situated at the crossroads of the O-2 and O-4 expressways in the Anatolian region of the city.
The residential area of Ataşehir contains up to 18,000 high-rise structures, offering 80,000 wealthy people opulent living options. Aside from this, it is regarded as a commercial centre since it houses the corporate headquarters of several businesses. Moreover, it is also Tennis courts, gyms, and movie theaters are among its many sporting and recreational amenities. These factors led to the Atasehir area of Istanbul receiving the Habitat Award.

Every neighborhood in Istanbul has a unique past and present. The Ataşehir district is the same way. It is one of Istanbul's newest and most contemporary neighborhoods. This has caused it to significantly differ from other neighborhoods in the city. And to be a standour place for real estate investment in Turkey.
In 2009, the Atashir district was created. The land from the neighboring neighborhoods of Kadikoy, umraniyeh, uskudar, and Kartal was initially divided to create the region. The district's development plan started at that point. In the district, it was planned to construct roughly 18,000 flats (in the form of residential complexes). There were enough flats to house close to 80,000 people.
